Job Posting

There are currently a few positions open within the Department. 

Position Title: Part Time Firefighter

The Part Time Firefighter must be able to perform the duties of a Firefighter. This includes operating in IDLH atmospheres, providing basic level emergency medical care and rescue services as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NC Firefighter certification
  • NC-EMT Basic; or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • 21 years of age
  • NC Class B Classified license prior to employment start date
  • IS 100.c, 200.c, 700.b, 703.a, 706 and 800.c prior to employment start date
  • Candidates must demonstrate through the Catawba Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. hiring process a level of competency to perform as a Career Firefighter

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Station and Apparatus upkeep and basic maintenance
  • Common and accepted functions of Fire, Rescue, and EMT
  • Incident mitigation, Incident reporting, record keeping, public relations, and fire prevention
  • Perform additional tasks assigned through their chain of command

  • Copies of all your Fire or Emergency Service Related Certifications (All Certifications)
  • Copy of your EMT Certification
  • Copy of your Driver’s License
